Have you ever noticed that a driver’s speed is directly related to their level of confidence behind the wheel? The more confident they are, the faster they will go. But this changes when they get behind the wheel of an unfamiliar car, or drive down an unfamiliar road.
They still know how to drive, they’re just not sure of how the car will maneuver, or what sharp curves and detours lay ahead. So they slow down and take some time to “get the feel of things”. Once things become familiar they are more comfortable and go a bit faster…and then faster. New speeds are exhilarating once again. Right up until they hit a pothole at full speed. The damage they sustain can be costly to repair and surely the car will never be the same. So naturally they slow down and are henceforth “more careful”…so they can see what lies on the road ahead.
You can probably see where this metaphor is going.
The Chariot…of Your Mind
You’ve been doing a ton of work becoming self aware. And you’re finally starting to see how things really work. You can see, clearer than ever, that you have been in the driver’s seat of your life experiences the whole time.
You raced along through your youth feeling invincible. Cruising over potholes, never caring about the damage. Until the damage started costing you things you came to see as important – time, relationships, money. So you slowed down the vehicle of your mind so you could “pay attention to the road” and minimize your losses. Never realizing just how much you gained.
You forgot the exhilaration of the speed of your youth. You came to see it as careless, rather than seeing how it contributed to making you into the experienced “driver” you’ve become.
What You Now Know
Your mind is a vehicle with massive horsepower. You know what the engine can do (manifest), and you know all of its features (the power of thoughts and dreams). Most importantly, you know exactly how to drive it. Step on the gas and “open ‘er up a bit” (talking about your mind here). Dream bigger and surrender to the idea that you create your reality. Let the drive of life be exhilarating once again.
Whether you want to believe it or not, you’ve been “driving” this life all along. You’ve proved it to yourself over and over with all the “coincidences” you’ve experienced. So you see, you really do know exactly what you’re doing. You know that bumps in the road only feel bigger because you’re going faster. But you know your mind so well that you know how to maneuver. You don’t need to creep along to avoid a potential pothole up ahead.
Your mind is agile enough to swerve (stop negative thoughts) and maintain a smooth ride. You are perfectly equipped to drive your mind through your personal dream of life.

Note that this says to "tend your inner flame." It does not say "tame" it. That's likely not possible, anyway. Your inner flame can quickly turn into a fire which rages. Especially when someone or something pierces you deeply. Cuts you to your core. People and circumstances have the power, i
